Growing Season

It’s that time of the year: The flower beds in front of our house are brimming with exotic colors, thanks to the warming season, great soil, abundant sunshine, adequate water, and . . . . . . . . the absence of unwelcome weeds. Those acquainted with the joys of agriculture are familiar with the challenge of weeds. The usual joke is that while gardeners work diligently at growing shrubs, plants, or trees, weeds move in faster and comfortably settle down for the season. My wife and I have learned that if we allowed weeds to remain in our flower beds, they compete with the plants, oftentimes taking over the area. So, we are diligent in weeding. And we have learned that if we pull out an unwanted weed when it is just getting started, roots and all, it’s much easier than if it is allowed to stay around. Get rid of weeds ASAP.Life is very similar to our flower garden. There are some things that, if allowed to hide/stay/percolate/grow/spread, will compete with your life, and oftentimes take over the joy and the exuberance of existence. Get rid of those weeds ASAP.What should you get rid of to enjoy the delight and enthusiasm of life? Here’s wise directive from the Holy Bible: Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander (saying things to defame or damage someone’s reputation), as well as all types of evil behavior. (Ephesians 4:31)Pay close attention to one word the text emphasizes twice: ALL 😊
