“For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.” Matthew 7:2

Though Jesus uses this same phrase differently in another passage, here He speaks of us being judged by the standards by which we judge others. He warns us here that we will not “get away with” hypocrisy and an overly harsh and judgmental spirit.

O God, we know we are to be discerning and unafraid to speak the truth, but teach us also to speak it in love. Keep us from a judgmental, self-righteous attitude. Help us to guard ourselves against wrongfully judging others. Remind us that men give not account to us, but to you. Amen.
